When the Sulankes first moved to the City of Trees in 1970ish, they were already avid cyclists and had been part of an unnamed cycling group in Lawrence, KS where Joyce had been teaching Latin and Bob finishing up his PhD in mathematics.

The Bogus Basin Hill Climb is a Boise cycling institution. Starting in 1972 as essentially and pick up ride. This event has evolved and shifted over the years but always held the sense of cammraderie it was founded with.
